The BWG hold regular monthly events for our members details of which are below.

If you would like to know when and where this months events are taking place then please see this months issue of 'Contact' magazine or log into the member's section of the website, where you will find full details of the months events and information on how to book.

Coffee Mornings

Coffee mornings are held every month, normally on the second Thursday of the month, and are an informal gathering of members and non-members, who stand around, have a cup of tea or coffee and a good old natter.  They are run by two dedicated 'Coffee' ladies who also sit on the BWG Committee, Belinda Freestone and Susan Rajhandary.

It’s a good way to get to know people if you are new to Bangkok or just to catch up with those whom you don’t see on a regular basis. We usually meet in members’ apartments so occasionally you may see a plea on the website for someone to act as host. We have a few “special” coffee mornings in the annual calendar, e.g. Easter, Queen’s Birthday and Christmas.

Lunches

BWG lunches take place on the third Thursday of each month.  Our lunch ladies, Ann Hellon and Jenni McDonald, source the best restaurants in Bangkok, who will reserve tables and plan menus according to the numbers.  Full details can be found in 'Contact' or log onto the members section of the website.

At certain lunches there may be a speaker, there is always a raffle with a selection of super prizes, the proceeds of which go directly to the local charities supported by the BWG.

Activity

Every month the BWG organises an activity, which usually takes place on the forth Thursday of the month, these are organised by our two committee members, Claire Deacon and Angela Stafford.  Each month they will organise an activity which may be something fun like learning a new skill such as Samba dancing, thai massage, cooking or it may be a visit to a place of interest in Bangkok or the surrounding area, recent trips were made to the Jim Thompson house and the Royal Porcelin Factory.  The activities are extremely varied and well organised.

The duration will depend on the activity, but if travel is involved can mean an early start with the aim to return to Bangkok around 4pm.  However, full details will be given each month when the activity is advertised in 'Contact' and also on the members section of the website.

Girls Night Out

Every month the BWG organises a Girls Night Out or GNO as it is more commonly referred to!  Our current organiser is Catherine Murrell who will arrange the GNO each month, the date is not fixed as we try not to conflict with any of the other day events such as lunches and activities.  But is generally advertised through the BWG emailing system or if this months details are fixed then will be listed in the members login section of the website.

The GNO gives members the chance to meet up in one of Bangkok's many fine bars and restaurants, and unwind over a glass or two of wine.  We aim to provide our members with an offer, so in many instances there will be a meal and drink offer, or a set price for wines etc.  The nights tend to be informal and offer a good chance for members who cannot attend the day events to not miss out on meeting up with old friends and indeed meeting some new ones!

On occasions if there is a special event happening in Bangkok, we may combine the GNO with a trip to the Theatre or Cinema for a premier of a much anticipated movie such as last years 'Sex In The City'.

Places need to be booked for all of the monthly events and there is usually a deadline for bookings each month.  We are usually able to negotiate preferential prices for our events due to the numbers of people who attend, therefore, we have to charge a 'no show' fee for those who book on an event and then do not turn up.  Full details on deadlines for bookings and cancellations and information on fees is detailed in the event listing in the magazine and online.
