The war memorial had been relocated from the British Embassy to the British Club where is has been tastefully and respectfully installed and the memorial service was excellent, brought together by the British Embassy, British Club and the Royal British Legion – well done to all concerned!

Wreaths were laid on behalf of many embassies, groups, schools and establishments which were announced individually which made it more meaningful.  Ailsa Kneath laid one for BWG, Sally Voravarn for St. Patrick’s Society and Gale Bailey for St. George’s Society – a solemn and poignant occasion.

Ceremonial music was supplied by the British Club pipe and drums bands and hymns were sung  accompanied by Shrewsbury School choir.  The buglers playing the Last Post were magnificent.

Drinks and snacks were served on the back lawn of the British Club which were very well received and a delicious curry was available later in the Surawongse Room.

New venue, new format but a beautiful service of remembrance – LEST WE FORGET.
